Statistics last year were released by comScore that showed mobile Internet browsing has doubled from 2008 (10.8 million people) to 2009 with 22.3 million daily mobile device web users. Mobile browsing is increasing at an incredible rate and we are ready for that at Your Scene Network.

With these changes in Internet browsing we want to embrace change and be at the forefront of developing technology for the Your Scene Network. Today we want to announce to the public the release of Your Scene Mobile Beta 1.0. Go to any scene site from your mobile phone and see for yourself. What you will find is a web browsing experience that is tailor fit to anyone on a mobile device. We have great plans for the future for our network and believe that using mobile phones will be integral as technology continues to advance.

Some great features to highlight that are live today:

Inbox - This is our standard private messaging system. You can read, reply and compose new messages to all members.
Forum - Browse the forum just as you would on a standard Internet browser. This is now formatted in a much simpler design to get you there on your mobile device.
Chat - You can stay connected to other members live as you are on the go or out in your shop working on your next project.

We have many great ideas that we will be adding to Your Scene Mobile in the months ahead. Go to your favorite scene on the network and see for yourself!

Help Section Revamp

We are getting close to completing the site “looks” revamp but before we get the phone access under way, we thought we should spend a little time to improve the site help section. We realize not all of us are computer gurus but there is a limit to how user friendly we can make the site before we start over complicating things.

To bridge the gap there is a help section. Currently its pretty dry and we want to improve this for all users. So what I would like to ask all of you especially our newer members is what parts of the site did you have trouble with at first? What site sections seemed confusing, or seem to overwhelming that you don’t even use?

The help section just like the rest of this site will always need updating and expansion but this is what we plan to add so far:

Login Issues Explained

Recently we began fixing the autologin feature. This feature keeps you logged in automatically when visiting the site. To enable this feature when you login remember to check the “Log me on automatically each visit” check box when you login. You may have noticed after the home page changed, you started to have trouble staying logged in. The final fix required us to adjust how the site sets your cookie, which you may need to clear before you can login. The remainder of this article is a guide for clearing your cookies for popular browsers.

	Internet Explorer 6 1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Internet Options and select the General tab. 2. To delete all cookies, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Cookies and press OK. If you wish to delete only specific cookies and keep others, instead of Step 2: 1. Click the Settings button, then click View Files. 2. Scroll through the list and select the cookies you want to delete. 3. Multiple cookies can be selected by holding down the CTRL key while clicking. 4. Press the Delete key. 5. Press OK on any dialog boxes that appear. Internet Explorer 7 1. It is generally best to select Everything. 3. In the details list, make sure Cookies are selected. If you also want to clear your cache, make sure that is selected as well. 4. Click Clear Now. 5. To delete specific cookies, you will need to go to the Tools menu and click Page Info, then click the Security tab. Click View Cookies and look through the list of the sites you wish to delete the cookies for (you may have to remove the text in the Search field for this), and press Remove Cookies. You can even expand each site to delete specific cookies from each site.
	Safari 1. Go to the menu labeled “Safari” 2. Select the sub-menu “Preferences …” 3. Select the “Show Cookies” button 4. Select all the remaining cookies showing in the window and click “Remove All”
	Opera 1. Once your browser is open, select the Tools menu and click Delete Private Data and click the Details button. 2. If you wish to keep things such as history, saved passwords, cache, etc., uncheck those items and click Delete. You may get a dialog that says “Active transfer has not been removed.” if you are currently downloading a file. 3. If you want to only delete certain cookies, click Tools and hover Advanced and click Cookies. From this screen, you can search for and select cookies to be deleted. To do so, select the select the site or the individual cookie and click Delete.
	Google Chrome 1. Once your browser is open, press Control + Shift + Delete. 2. Ensure that delete cookies is selected. 3. Click clear browsing data. Alternatively you can click the spanner icon in the top left, select clear browsing data and repeat steps 2 and 3.

The Face Lift Project

Announcing The Face Lift project!

We are moving right along with site development which brings us to our newest project, “The Face Lift”! We have listened to your comments and felt like it was time to get the community involved. We know not everyone is a webdesigner, or programmer but that doesn’t mean you don’t have some good ideas! Please add your comments to the “The Face Lift” Project thread in your favorite forum.

You will notice that the home page has changed. This is the base from which we will work from to complete this project. We took elements we felt were best from the old design and current design.

The goals of the changes are:
-More user friendly
-Faster Load Times
-Appealing yet simple look
-Better use of screen realestate

We will take in account all suggestions in completion of this project. Get involved today! As with all websites, our websites will have periodic updating but for this project we will complete in mid May so that we can move on to a mobile site version!

Server Update!

We have been busy! You may have been thinking about when to get your spring cleaning started and so have we. We have evaluated some major issues with out network and have been working hard to give everyone a better experience. One of our main goals is to be transparent to all our users and communicate what is happening in the Your Scene Network. Here are some details that should get you excited…

We have moved all sites to a new server. In the past couple months users may have experienced errors as result of the previous server such as general php errors, page load errors, and sometimes even a blank page. Users should see significant speed increases and no more errors caused by the server. This should create a much more enjoyable web experience! (If you experience any future problems please contact us at info@yourscenenetwork.com so we can resolve them.)

There has been problems with users staying logged into our sites and we know the frustrations this has caused. We are happy to say that this should be resolved with the move to our new server! (Users may want to delete their existing cookie, please contact a scene site admin for more help.)

This year will be another great one for us as we look forward to using your input to make the sites more inviting and user friendly. We would like to combine elements from the previous versions and our most recent version to make the sites as best as they can be.

With the trend of mobile devices increasing daily we see that as a great opportunity to develop a mobile version for all our sites. This ain’t no mom n’ pop internet experience anymore! We will be sure to keep in touch as there will be many more features coming in 2010.

Auto Login Update!

We were excited to introduce to you, our new News Letter System last month! We will be keeping you updated on site changes, as well as what is going on in your scene! 2010 is a big development year for us. We will be developing a new site completely from scratch, but do not worry. All the features you have come to love will not only be standard but also expanded on by input from you! As you can imagine developing a new site from scratch is a large project. Once development is under way, we will be reqruiting volunteers for testing, and first hand suggestions. This could be you! Before the project is started we will be performing final changes to the current site, and fixing remaining bugs.

Wiki -> Techi …a brief history and introduction

I was recently asked, “So what is this Techi project on all the scene sites?” Well let me try to give some background and more information about this community project.

Brief History. Right from their website, “Wikipedia is a multilingual, Web-based, free-content encyclopedia project.” A “wiki” is a type of collaborative website and “pedia” just comes from the word encyclopedia. The purpose of a wiki is for a community of users to collaborate together and contribute articles that provide links to guide the user to related pages with additional information. A wiki is edited by anyone in the world and is done by volunteers. Here are a few examples so you can see what a wiki looks like:

Introduction to the Techi. In our network, we have users that have so much experience and deep desire to help others that we are beginning to develop a community project called the Techi. It is a collaboration that will be unique to each of our websites and will involve all our users. There are 3 levels of contributors to our Techi project: any Website user, Techi Moderator, and Techi Administrator.

Website user - Any registered user on our sites that can post information for the Moderators to review.
Techi Mod - Registered users that have been chosen to review all infromation contributed by the website’s users
Techi Admin - Website Admins will choose the Mods to manage all information and will have the final decision on the organization and infrastructure of the data collected.

Infrastructure. The basic setup will be a new forum section added called “Techi.” In this section, there will be subsections that a user can choose from. Within a subsection, a user can start a new thread or contribute to an existing thread. Then the Mods will collect this information and begin to post under the outline that has been setup by the Admins. So keep your eyes peeled, we will be adding this new Forum section soon and hope you can be apart of this community project. The Techi will only be as good as what our users can contribute, so we hope that you can help us out! This will be as simple as finding old/new threads on the site that store the technical information we are looking for. Or maybe you can dig deep into other sources like paper/pdf Manuals or other Internet sources. The Techi’s main purpose is to provide a primary source of information for a “scene site” vehicle make/model for all users or visitors. Keep an eye out, it’s coming soon to a scene site near you…

Ready For the Road!!

well i am here at home getting things gathered up head to TexMex after 5 events in 5 weekends this boy is TIRED!!!!! we have done some serious work on getting content for the new launch, but we’ve had some HELL of good times…

started off at

dfwDragnight-which to cold for content that night and wasnt the biggiest turn out that ive seen

EastTexasMinis DragNight- got some sick content there and a feature that will up later in the month

Relaxing on the Bayou- in laffayette,La which was an awesome time and got alot content

Midwest BowlingFest- AWESOME TIME just me and Cisco went and had lots of fun!!!

NOW! TexMex- if i cant come back with a feature and some content here then we are in trouble haha!!!

but it has wore me down but worth every moment of it i am glad we are finally getting the site up and launched and i am very optimisitic about it and cant wait for what the future has for us at yourscenenmag.com… i have 2 guys here in my car club helping me out and they are awesome with everything we need to keep things smoothly, i remember back in 06 and 07 it was just me and i was doing double coverage for a couple sites it was just Mayham getting everything twice lol…. but i am going to try to break out a new post during texmex one night if i am not too hammered drunk from it all haha… but back on the road again……

Add New Vehicle

1. Start of by going to the Rides tab on the website. Then click on New Vehicle to add your ride.

2. Fill in the required fields, and any additional fields that you would like.

3. At the bottom there are two fields to highlight. The Build thread would be the hyperlink to the thread from our projects forum. Also attach an image of your vehicle from your computer.

4. Click Create New Vehicle and you’re done! Here is what you will see with a successful upload.

Edit Vehicle

1. Click Edit Vehicle near the bottom in the Manage Vehicle Actions section.

2. There are two tabs to Edit your vehicle, the first is the Vehicle Info tab. Here you can edit all the basic information about your vehicle.

3. The Images tab allows you to add more pictures. Browse on your computer for an image, then click Add New Image. You can also remove Images here also.

New Modification

1. Click on New Modification.

2. In the new window, begin choosing the type of modification in the drop down menus. When you see a field that is not listed, click on the “Not Listed? Click Here” link.

3. Here we have the Add New Business window. Please create the Business name, and any other additional info you would like to contribute. Then click Add New Business.

4. When you are ready to go, click Add Modification to complete your addition.

New Quarter Mile

1. Click on New Quarter Mile.

2. Add appropriate information for 1/4 mile time.

3. Click Add New Time when you are finished.

Guestbook

1. Add your entry in the text box and click “Post Comment”

2. Now you can see how the entries look one after another.

Modifications

1. All of your modifications for your vehicle will be listed here.

Blog

1. All of your modifications for your vehicle will be listed here.

2. This is what it will look like after you begin to make entries. The Header, the date of entry, and then your text below. You can also edit or delete the entry right beside the date.

Busy Busy Busy!

Well i know its been a LONG time since i Wrote a Blog, but i got back on here and decided i need to keep myself more Fresh on my Blogs… Anyway just to let everyone know that i have Been Busy Busy Busy on the photography work for yourscenemag.com, i did my 2nd local Feature this past weekend as well as my second coverage of the year, next weekend is Relaxin on the Bayou, @ Layffette, La… so that should be a blast!!!!!

also i have a good crew around me that helps me get content here in Texas is My buddy Cisco a Fellow Outlandish Trends Member, he’ll be doing alot of the Videoing for me, and Justin also a Fellow Outlandish Trends Member he’ll be sharing the photography content with me, and is showing me great passion for shooting photos….so its coming a YourScene Team here in texas and if i can keep’em coming to the events with me over the season we going to have alot great stuff to bring tou the Mag really soon….but i wanted to update my blog a bit and let you know i have a ton more of idea’s ready to come out on yourscene and hope everyone enjoys it and enjoys our work…. after all “Its Your Scene” lol….
